"The Man of Her Dreams" Screenplay

Warning: hints at a movie spoiler.

Some challenges I faced when writing the screenplay was the commitment to the ideas and how to write them. The idea for the mysterious man's outfit had to be finalized, and between a regular black suit, a button up, or the vintage suit, I decided to go with vintage. I also had to decide on what the make the news scroll say, and after days of contemplation, I went with a jailed insane man. I had other options such as missing scientist, runaway criminal, or even an unknown man, but I decided to go with the older man being admitted to prison. There is a connection between these two decisions, but I can't share this without spoiling my movie! However, there was one decision I thought would take me forever to figure out. That decision was what I would do after Grey, the main character, is done watching the news. I was able to think of a scenario in less than 5 minutes rather than way longer like I had thought.

I plan to shoot the dream scene at a park by my house, which is only 5-10 minutes away. There will be a special effect of being faded, with a white overlay to make it more dream-like. The man in this scene would likely be one of my male friends from school. This might be my biggest challenge, as I don't have many male friends, especially those who will say yes. However, I am confident that I will be able to find one. The rest of the film opening will be shot at my own house and in normal lighting, without the special effects. I will have to design a believable news layout and film the news reporter, who will be happily played by my dad. Grey will most likely be played by myself. This is unless I can find a very willing and easy to work with actress, or friend, to play the part. Otherwise, if I am the leading actress, the cinematography will be fairly simple, having to use a phone stand and editing the footage from there. Of course, I would be using many angles to make it look less simple, but the film process itself should be as simple as placing the stand in one location, pressing record, and getting into position. Finally, the prisoner will either be a well edited picture of the man to look older, or their dad so it looks like them. (Are you starting to make the connection yet?)

The costumes were already partially mentioned. Grey would be wearing a white flowy dress with white sneakers. The man would be wearing a vintage style suit or outfit. Then, when Grey is home, she will be wearing pajamas until the scene at the very end, where she will be wearing a t-shirt with a jacket and jeans or cargo pants. The mugshot of the jailed man will be in a black shirt while the reporter wears a classic black suit and a tie.

I can't wait to get started on production!
